Education and Cultural Programs
Every year, MAOH has celebrated the Myanmar New Year Festival with displays of cultural dances of the various ethnic dances and songs. The celebration includes offerings of the favorite foods enjoyed at New Year's time. Other educational aspects are interwoven into the ceremony like paying respects to the elders to teach the younger generation and others about Myanmar culture. Other educational programs include the general public in the situation facing the younger generation in Myanmar. An educational program by MAOH also highlighted the dance and music of Myanmar. The events included educational aspects of Know your Rights. And immigration laws.
Charitable and Humanitarian Programs
MAOH has hosted fundraisers during hurricane Nargis in 2008 and rushed medicines and clothing and food to victims of Cyclone Nargis. In 2025 a major earthquake hit central Burma. MAOH hosted a fundraiser and with the help of three or more local organizations was able to provide clean water and bedding and clothing and medical supplies to three areas that needed assistance.
Community
MAOH works in partnership with dedicated community volunteers and with local, national, and international organizations that share similar humanitarian and cultural missions. Key collaborators include Myanmar Buddhist Association, Pacific Gateway Center, and community businesses such as Rangoon Kitchen and Dagon Restaurant, as well as service organizations including Catholic Charities Hawai‘i, Susannah Wesley Community Center, the Legal Clinic, and Thai Farmers Association of Hawaii. Through volunteerism and collaboration, MAOH strengthens community ties while expanding its capacity to respond effectively to humanitarian and social needs.
Resources
The community and its members remain one of MAOH’s greatest resources. The organization relies on bilingual volunteers to provide translation and interpretation when needed and helps connect individuals and families to immigration assistance, multilingual services, community social services, and organizational newsletters and updates.
